Welcome to the world of Chaos & Couture, where nothing is the same from one week to the next and I always have a story to tell.
Originally trained within the walls of Australian Consolidated Press (ACP) and the famous Australian Women’s Weekly Test Kitchen, I started my career from the ground up.
The first 9 months of my Test Kitchen Life were spent shopping for all the girls in the Kitchen, roaming between David Jones Food Hall and specialty shops on the streets of Sydney City (with my own company David Jones credit card, I might add), seeking out specific ingredients for recipes that were being created for our Cookbooks. My job also entailed stocking the pantry and the fridges, ensuring everyone had what they ordered, in their bays, when they needed it. If I didn’t find it or forgot to grab it, there was hell to pay, and I was sent straight back down the lift and out to the shops to find it.
After months of carrying shopping bags and a greater knowledge of ingredients, one of our girls was blessed with a baby and I, in turn, was blessed with a promotion, making my way into one of the Bays, where I learned the art of recipe development and cooking for photography.
I stayed in that Bay and the best job I could have imagined, until I had the first of my 4 girls, moving on to work as a Freelance recipe writer and photo chef for various food publications, while my family continued to grow and grow and grow.
A marriage, 4 kids, a diagnosis of coeliac disease, an allergy-friendly business, 7 kids between 2 friends, hundreds of cakes later, and a love of all things sweet brought me to where I am today, my very own, busy little studio
These days I spend my days in that space, creating edible art with Maree and Isabella by my side. Planning, designing, sketching, baking, decorating, and creating … ALL DAY! If I’m not running around for one of my many children, working in Emu’s Burger Joint or training with a baton in my hand, you’ll find me here, in my own little space working on a wedding cake or up to my eyeballs in macaron shells.
